Our Journey

Where our story began.

Before AMMA Community Inc. was formally established, our founder was already building safe, welcoming spaces for immigrant women to connect and thrive in Winnipeg. These early programs and collaborations helped shape the resilient community we are today.

Our Roots

Early programs and collaborations built spaces for immigrant women before official incorporation.

The foundation of AMMA Community was laid through informal gatherings and peer-led support circles. Long before any official paperwork, women found a place to share their experiences, practice language skills, and build genuine friendships. These initial efforts were driven by a deep understanding of the unique needs of newcomer women, fostering a sense of belonging that transcended administrative structures.

These early initiatives were crucial in demonstrating the power of in-real-life connection. We learned what truly resonated with women: culturally responsive workshops, shared meals, and opportunities for authentic social interaction. This organic growth and direct feedback from the community guided every step, ensuring AMMA Community would always prioritize relational well-being over institutional processes.
